BUCKTOWN — Michelle Tan, a local designer known for her edgy and stylish designs, will be transforming her Bucktown boutique into a pop-up gallery featuring portraits of Chicago drag icons by Nestor Photography.

Scheduled for 6-10 p.m. Dec. 5 at Michelle Tan Clothing, 1920 N. Damen Ave., Nestor Levais' one-night-only photography show, WERKS, will showcase images of contestants in "Ru Paul's Drag Race," a popular reality show headed into its seventh season next year.

The show will include portraits of Gia Gunn (Season 6), Dida Ritz (Season 4), Jade Jolie (Season 5) and Monica Beverly Hillz (Season 5).

Portraits of Chicago comedians the Puterbaugh Sisterz and Beth Stelling will be shown, too.

The images in WERKS are compiled from a variety of inspirations from normal everyday behavior and interactions, to technology, age, self-image and sexuality, according to a news release.

Chicago-based photographer Levais, who goes by his first name of Nestor, said "photography allows that silent moment to just look and be still."

Nestor said he has a goal to challenge the perception of being and connect “in a world where we want everything in an instant and where people are quick to judge more than they accept."

The WERKS pop-up gallery will also offer a range of items to buy, including photographs, posters, postcards and T-shirts. Remy Martin V cognac will be providing cocktails, too. Admission is free.
