CHICAGO — A man is in serious conditions after being stabbed multiple times during an attempted carjacking in North Lawndale Saturday, police said.

At 11:10 p.m., the 28-year-old man was sitting in his car in the 4300 block of West Roosevelt Road when he was approached by a group of men, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

The man was stabbed multiple times while his assailants attempted to take the vehicle. The group fled when the man started to fight back, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in serious condition, Estrada said.

No one is in custody, and police are investigating.
