Man Shot and Killed in South Side Sunday

CHICAGO — Two people were shot, one fatally, on the South Side Sunday afternoon, police said.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the back at 3:11 p.m. in the 7200 block of South Vincennes Avenue, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The man was identified as Darnell Williams of the 600 block of West Cermak Avenue by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. According to the autopsy, Williams died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Earlier, police said a 52-year-old man was shot in Burnside.

The man was in the 8900 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue about 1:40 p.m. when he was shot in the leg, police said.

Police did not know his condition or if he had been taken to a hospital.
