DOWNTOWN — The skating ribbon at Maggie Daley Park is nearly complete — and the ice will be added to the track as soon as next week.

A live webcam maintained by the Chicago Park District shows the quarter-mile ribbon practically complete in time for its opening next month.

Jessica Maxey-Faulkner, a park district spokeswoman, said the ribbon will open to the public in mid-December. The exact date has not been set yet.

Bob O'Neill, president of the Grant Park Conservancy, said the ice will be added to the track as early as next week.

"The contractor is still installing boards and railings, and the target is to begin building the ice later next week," he said.
