LOGAN SQUARE — As patio season becomes a distant memory, Parson's Chicken and Fish is getting two much-anticipated additions for customers craving fried chicken and slushies this winter.

Parson's, 2952 W. Armitage Ave., is adding two “seasonally adaptive canopy additions," according to co-owner and Land and Sea Dept. partner Peter Toalson. The canopies will allow for a number of uses, from additional seating to rain coverage and warmth from the looming winter chill.

“We are in the process of completing the first of two adaptive canopy additions, ones that will allow us to broaden and expand customer seating capacities and options,” he said.

The restaurant sits around 30 people and is often filled to the brim on a weekend night.

Toalson said he expected the first expansion phase, over the front patio, would be done by January. That renovation is made up of red steel beams built around the former outdoor seating area.

The second phase, which will add a canopy to the back patio, will take place in 2015, Toalson said.
