PORTAGE PARK — The co-founder of the Irving-Austin Business District is scheduled to speak at the Monday meeting of the Portage Park Neighborhood Association.

Melissa Basilone, who owns the Thrift & Thrive Resale Shop and Perkolator Cafe with her husband, Joe, will discuss the future of the shopping district at the west edge of Portage Park.

The Basilones helped found the business organization, which is crafting a master plan that will shape the future of the area around Irving Park Road and Austin Avenue, which is pockmarked with empty storefronts.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday at 4839 W. Irving Park Road. Metered parking is available on Irving Park.
