CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man was fatally shot in East Garfield Park Saturday afternoon, police said.

The shooting happened about 2:15 p.m. in the 700 block of North Hamlin Avenue, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

The victim was in a car going north on Hamlin when another vehicle pulled up, and someone inside fired shots. The victim was struck in the back, Zala said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Zala said.

The man was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Anthony Jackson, of the 300 block of West Lexington Avenue.

Authorities said the shooting may be gang related. No one is in custody.
