Canaryville CAPS to Host Toy Drive

CANARYVILLE — The officers of the Deering District are hosting a holiday toy drive to benefit local children affected by abuse and domestic violence. 

Donations can be made at the Nov. 19 CAPS meeting in Canaryville, which begins at 6 p.m. at the St. Gabriel school hall, 4500 S. Wallace Ave. 

Alternatively, toy donations can also be dropped off at the Deering District headquarters, 3120 S. Halsted St. beginning on Dec. 1. The toy drive last through Dec. 15. 

Also called the Ninth District, the Deering District encompasses 14 square miles and serves a number of South Side neighborhoods, including Armour Square, Bridgeport, Canaryville, McKinley Park and Back of the Yards.

The Canaryville CAPS meeting will also include raffles for gift cards and a flu shots administered by Walgreen's.
