NORWOOD PARK — Shop & Save Market will open at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the shuttered Dominick’s at Devon and Nagle avenues, its owner said.

The store at 6312 N. Nagle Ave. had to be extensively renovated, said Eva Jakubowski, who owns the Niles-based grocery chain with her husband, Cezary.

"It is a tremendous relief to have the store open," Jakubowski said Tuesday. "So many people have been asking us for an opening day."

The store will feature an expanded produce area, bakery and prepared food section, Jakubowski said.

Dominick's shuttered its 15 Chicago locations in December, leaving the Norwood Park store vacant until February when Jakubowski announced it would become the chain's seventh store, and its second in the city.

The loss of the Norwood Park Dominick's was a real inconvenience for those who relied on the store for decades, especially during last year's harsh winter, Ald. Mary O'Connor (41st) said.
