CHICAGO — Berliners, say "Guten Tag" to one of Chicago's most iconic music festivals.

Lollapalooza organizers announced Thursday that the music show founded in Chicago in 1991 will add its fourth international location and first European site with a two-day festival Sept. 12-13 in Berlin.

The German fall festival joins international Lollapalooza spin-offs in Chile, Brazil and Argentina, and will be organized by Festival Republic, which manages the Reading and Leeds festivals in the U.K.

Lollapalooza Berlin will be hosted in the historic landmark Tempelhof Airport, a popular host site for music festival and sporting events.

Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell, frontman of Jane's Addiction, said he's "extremely excited to finally bring Lollapalooza across the pond to Europe.

"Berlin’s energy, vibrant art, fashion and music scenes are a mirror reflection of what Lollapalooza is all about and I can’t wait to share in this cultural exchange."

Chicago officials tout the long-running festival as a boon for the local economy. In 2013, the second in a 10-year deal the fest inked with Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the city reported that Lollapalooza and its attendees generated $139 million for the city.

Lollapalooza Chile runs March 14-15, followed by Lollapalooza Argentina March 21-22. Lollapalooza Brazil runs March 28-29.

Lollapalooza will return to Chicago July 31-Aug. 2.
