Things You Can Do in Lincoln Park and Old Town This Weekend

Friday

Shane Mauss at Zanies, 1548 N. Wells St., 8:30 and 10:30 p.m.

2013 was a busy year for Shane Mauss. He made his fifth appearance on "Conan," recorded his first hour-long special and performed his solo show in the world's largest comedy festival for a month straight. Tickets to his show Wednesday are $25 with the purchase of two food or drink items.

Mucca Pazza at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 8 p.m.

Head to Lincoln Hall for a 10th Anniversary Halloween Celebration featuring an album release party for Mucca Pazza. Black Bear Combo will also perform. Tickets for the 21-and-over show are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Saturday

Chicago International Children's Film Festival Workshops at Facets Cinematheque, 1517 W. Fullerton Ave.

From 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday attend the "Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book, Page to Screen" Workshop. The workshop is for children 8-10 and limited to 15 children. Tickets are $35 for members and $40 for non-members. From 5-6:30 p.m. join a discussion on character acting for television with a behind-the-scenes question-and-answer portion with stand-out character actors. Tickets for the discussion are $10 for Facets members and $15 for non-members. The workshop is for children ages 11 or older and is limited to 30 people.

Learn, Explore and Play at Lincoln Park Zoo, 2001 N. Clark St., 9:30-10:30 a.m.

The zoo has created an immersive playground for your young one to connect with nature through playtime. The sensory-rich play place allows children to meet the animals, draw, build and make music on your own schedule. The nine-week session on Thursdays and Saturdays is $126, $108 for zoo members. The class is for children ages 2-3 accompanied by an adult.

Agnes Oble at Park West, 322 W. Armitage Ave., 8 p.m.

Agnes Oble is a singer/songwriter from Denmark who released her first album in 2010. She'll perform with Jennifer Castle Saturday night. Tickets to the 18-and-over show are $25.

Sunday

Chicago International Children's Film Festival Workshops at Facets Cinematheque, 1517 W. Fullerton Ave.

From 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. work in groups to create your own "mockumentary." The workshop is for children ages 11-14 and limited to 20 people. Tickets are $35 for Facets members and $40 for non-members. From 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. learn how filmmakers create special effects using stop motion and pixilation. The workshop is for children ages 8-10 and limited to 15 participants. Tickets to the workshop are $35 for Facets members of $40 for non-members.
