CHICAGO — An off-duty Chicago police sergeant had his gun stolen when he was mugged in a Downtown parking garage Thursday afternoon, police said.
Around 3 p.m., the sergeant was beaten and robbed by several men in a garage at 172 W. Madison St., said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.
The officer was taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition, Sedevic said.
On Friday, police released images of the suspects and the vehicle they used to escape. The three men are described as "armed and dangerous."
According to the Tribune, the sergeant was with a group of men getting off an elevator on the 12th floor when six to 10 men confronted them as they walked to their cars. The men then attacked the sergeant until two of his friends intervened.
