ROGERS PARK — From costume contests to psychics, Rogers Park and Edgewater has a lot to offer this Halloween.

Here are five things to do Friday on the Far North Side.

Costume contest and cocktails at R Public House: Judges will choose the winning costume at 10 p.m. Expect "great" prizes, according to the bar and restaurant's Facebook page. 1508 W. Jarvis Ave.

Rogers Park Social Halloween Masque: Masks are required at this masquerade ball. Bring your own or buy one at the door "for a small fee." The bar recommends fancy dress or sexy (even S&M). Judges will choose winners for most creative use of masks and overall disguise. 8 p.m.-2 a.m., 6920 N. Glenwood Ave.

Free music, costume contest at Red Line Tap: The Red Line Disaster, featuring members of The Mudflapps, Outlaw Family Band, The Wandering Dirt, Midwestern Lull and more, will play a free show all night long. Winners of a costume contest will receive a pair of tickets to a show of their choice at The Tap and a gift certificate to Heartland Cafe. Also expect drink specials. 9 p.m.-1 a.m., 7006 N. Glenwood Ave.

The Mayne Stage and Act One Pub: The Morse Avenue venue has all kinds of entertainment planned for Friday. Psychic Ross Johnson will perform his interactive show "Halloween Enigmas and Perplexities" at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $25 for preferred seating. Then at 9 p.m. the Amazing Heeby Jeebies will perform for free in the pub a tribute to The Cramps. Finally, catch The Rocky Horror Revue featuring Johnny Chastain and The Heartbeats with JC Brooks (of JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound) as Dr. Frankenfurter at 10:30 p.m. Tickets for this show are $12, or $10 at the door if you wear a costume. There will also be a costume contest and a silent auction. Buy tickets here. 1328 W. Morse Ave.

"Halloween Spooktacular Special" for the kids at the Edgewater Library: The Edgewater Library branch is set to host an event for children 5 years old and younger. Librarians will lead a costume parade around the block, then it's storytime and songs. 9:30-11:30 a.m.
