Cinema Buffs to Show Avant Garde Horror Flicks on 16-mm Film

BRIDGEPORT — Fans of freaky films are invited to night of short horror movies presented in 16-millimeter glory. 

Co-hosted by South Side Projections and the Chicago Cinema Society, the "Fatale Frame" Avant-Garde Horror on 16mm" event takes place 7 p.m. Thursday at Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S. Morgan St. Admission is $7. 

Organizers say the roster of films "hinge on uncanny enigmas, favoring existential terror over cheap thrills and grotesque monsters."

They include "Fall of the House of Usher" (13 minutes), "Nocturne" (30 mins), "On the Edge" (6 mins), "The Witches Cradle" (12 mins) and "Book of the Dead" (16 mins). 

The festivities also include an avante garde costume contest.
