COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE - Prosecutors said two men, nicknamed "Murder" and "O.J.", beat and robbed a man in Back of the Yards earlier this month.

Armed with a glass bottle, the two alleged robbers approached a man on the street in the 5100 block of South Ada Street the night of Oct. 12, prosecutors said. They were identified by a witness who knew them by their street names, prosecutors said.

One of them hit the 23-year-old victim in the face with the bottle, and then the two stole his gym shoes and a cellphone, prosecutors said.

Robert Barnes, a.k.a "O.J.," of the 700 block of West 80th Street, was arrested and charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery on Oct. 22 after being identified as one of the two culprits.

The man known as "Murder" has not been found, prosecutors said.

A Cook County judge ordered Barnes held on $200,000 bail during a brief court hearing Friday.
