Armed Robber Stealing from Loop, Near West Side Stores, Police Say

CHICAGO — Police issued a warning Thursday to businesses and residents in the Loop and Near West Side after an increase in robberies during the month of October.

Police said said an armed robber stole items from stores, as well as a clerk's person property in two separate incidents.

The most recent robbery occurred Oct. 23 at approximately 4:15 a.m. in the 100 block of South Clark Street.

Another robbery was reported Oct. 17 at about 12:30 a.m. in the 500 block of West Lake Street.

The suspect is described as a black man with a mustache between the ages of 24 and 30, approximately 6-foot to 6-foot-3 inches tall, weighing 165 to 170 pounds. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweater, with black or blue pants and black shoes, police said.

Police warned businesses and residents to be aware of surroundings and report any suspicious activity.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Bureau of Detectives at 312-747-8380.
