Man Who Tried to Run Over Officers With Car Now Facing Charges, Police Say

CHICAGO — A man from west suburban Bellwood was hit with a long list of charges after he tried to hit officers with his car in East Garfield Park, police said.

Around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, police responding to a traffic accident saw Justin Johnson, 32, in one of the cars involved in the accident in the 600 block of North Kedzie Avenue, police said. Johnson then tried to hit officers with the car, police said.

Johnson was charged with four counts of aggravated assault of a police officer, two counts of resisting a police officer, driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, disobeying a red light and attempting to elude police, police said.

He is expected to appear in bond court Wednesday.
