Far South Side Man Charged in Sept. Murder

CHICAGO — A Far South Side man has been charged with the September murder of a man in Chatham, police said.

Erick T. Horton, 24, of the 10800 block of South Edbrooke Avenue, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Nigell D. Vazquez, 22.

Vazquez was standing on a porch in the 8600 block of South Ingleside Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Sept. 4 when two men approached him and opened fire. He was hit in the back, and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he died.

Horton is due to appear in court Saturday.
