Man Killed, Boy Wounded in South Shore Shooting

CHICAGO — A man was killed and a boy wounded in a shooting in South Shore Thursday afternoon, police said.

The shooting occurred in the 7500 block of South Colfax Avenue about 2:45, police said.

The man, 25, was shot in the torso, police said. He was pronounced on the scene, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

The shooting victim was identified as Alexander D. Smith of the 2300 block of Ninth Street in Rockford, the Medical Examiner's Office said.

The boy, whose age was unknown, suffered a graze wound to the ankle and was taken in "stable" condition to South Shore Hospital, police said.
