Man Tries to Kidnap 7-Year-Old Boy in West Englewood, Police Say

CHICAGO — Police are asking for the public's help in finding the man responsible for attempting to grab a 7-year-old boy on his way to school in Englewood last week.

Around 7:35 a.m. Thursday, the boy was headed to school when a man grabbed him by his backpack in the 2000 block of West 73rd Street. The boy was able to escape the man's grasp and run to school, where he told the staff about the incident, police said.

Officers described the man as black men with a slim build and dark complexion standing about 5-foot-6. He was wearing blue jeans, a red jacket, a red Bulls skull cap and Timberland boots when the incident occurred, police said.
