MCKINLEY PARK — Kids are encouraged to bring a hat and lend an ear for an interactive storytelling session at the McKinley Park branch of the Chicago Public Library.

The event is hosted by the Junior League of Chicago's "Mad Hatters," a volunteer troupe that reads, sings and acts out stories, all in an effort to make reading more accessible and exciting to kids.

The free session takes place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the library, 1915 W. 35th St.

Organizers say the event is appropriate for kids ages 3-9.
