LOGAN SQUARE — If you think craft beer is a fairly recent trend, you might want to listen to what craft brew veteran Tony Magee has to say about that.

Magee started Lagunitas Brewing Co. as a tiny California operation in 1993. More than 20 years later, he runs the fifth largest brewery in the country.

Magee will share his story at City Lit Books, 2523 N. Kedzie Blvd., in Logan Square Friday night. His book, "So You Want to Start a Brewery?" explains how he got started in the beer business and is a "must-read" for folks looking to get their own craft brew biz up and running, City Lit said.

He'll also discuss what went into getting the Chicago brewery and taproom open.

The free event starts at 6:30 p.m.
