Englewood Shootings Wound Two Teens, Eight Others Wounded Overnight

CHICAGO — Two 16-year-olds shot in Englewood were among 10 people shot Tuesday across the city.

A 16-year-old girl was hit with gunfire in the 7200 block of South Paulina Street around 7:48 p.m., said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition. No one is in custody for the shooting, which is believed to be gang-related, Pacheco said.

Around 7:22 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot multiple times during a drive-by in the 6500 block of South Stewart Avenue. The shots came from an unknown car and struck the boy in the back and leg, leaving him in stable condition at Christ, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for the shooting, which is believed to be gang-related, Pacheco said.

The most recent shooting happened at 12:10 p.m. in the 10700 block of South Wentworth Avenue in Roseland when a 22-year-old was shot in his head while leaving a store. He was listed in critical condition at Christ, Pacheco said.

Two men, ages 22 and 24, were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital after being shot in their buttocks. The two men were in the 1800 block of South Hamlin Avenue around 9:12 p.m. when the shooting occurred. Their condition was unknown, Pacheco said.

A 21-year-old man was shot during a drive-by in the 8800 block of South Wabash Avenue in West Chesterfield. The shooting occurred at 9:07 p.m. when a light-colored vehicle pulled up and someone opened fire, hitting the man in the leg, Pacheco said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, Pacheco said.

A 14-year-old boy was shot in Woodlawn just before 9 p.m.

Around 6:45 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot while walking in the 4000 block of South California Avenue in Brighton Park. The teen was taken to Mount Sinai in stable condition after being grazed in his right arm and struck in his calf, Pacheco said.

A 27-year-old man was wounded in Humboldt Park around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Around 8 a.m. Tuesday, a 15-year-old boy was shot by someone in a dark minivan as he walked in the 8300 block of South Ellis Avenue in East Chatham. The teen was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where he was listed in good condition after being shot in his hand, Pacheco said.

The victim was a documented gang member and no one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said.
