PORTAGE PARK — The St. Patrick High School Dance Team has been invited to perform during the halftime show at the Orange Bowl on New Year's Eve.

The team has launched an online fundraising campaign to cover the $5,000 cost of the trip to Miami for the Dec. 31 game.

While St. Patrick is an all-boys school, the dance team that cheers on its sports teams is made up of students from co-ed and all-girl Northwest Side schools, including Resurrection College Prep High School in Norwood Park.

The team hopes to dance in a show produced by WorldStrides Heritage Performance Programs along with a musical guest and other dancers at halftime.

The Orange Bowl will feature the champion of the Atlantic Coast Conference as part of the college football bowl series.
