CHICAGO — Chicago Teacher's Union President and potential mayoral candidate Karen Lewis was hospitalized Sunday evening, several news organizations reported.
Lewis was being evaluated at a local hospital, said Stephanie Gadlin, a spokeswoman for the CTU, in a statement to news organizations.
“Karen is being evaluated in a local hospital after experiencing discomfort Sunday evening," Gadlin said. " ... She has not suffered a stroke. We respect Karen’s privacy just as we value her leadership. I’m sure she’ll determine whether or not another public statement is warranted."
In a statement early Monday evening, Kelley Quinn, a spokeswoman for Mayor Rahm Emanuel, said, "The Mayor wishes Karen well, and that she makes a full and speedy recovery."
