CHINATOWN — The scientists behind "Mad Science of Chicago" aim to give kids a better understanding of the scientific method at this hands-on workshop.

The event takes place 4-5 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Chinatown branch of the Chicago Public Library, 2353 S. Wentworth Ave. It's free to attend, but space is limited to the first 25 students to register. It's geared toward students in fourth through sixth grades.

Participants will be led through the creation of a science fair project and receive a take-home manual that can be used as a help with homework.

To register, call the library at 312-747-8013.
