Boystown Legacy Walk Honors Audre Lorde, Sally Ride This Saturday

LAKEVIEW — Audre Lorde, Cole Porter and Sally Ride will be honored at the Boystown Legacy Walk this Saturday.

The Legacy Walk is an outdoor museum dedicated to notable LGBT people and movements. Since 2012, plaques with photos and historical information have been added to the rainbow pylons along Halsted Street.

On Saturday, Legacy Project founder Victor Salvo will lead a guided tour from 3-5 p.m. He'll share anecdotes about new inductees and explain the project's history. The tour starts at Buckingham and Halsted, and will head north along Halsted Street.

This year's inductees and the location of their plaques include:

• Writer and activist Audre Lorde, plaque at 3707 N. Halsted St.

• Composer Cole Porter, plaque at 3311 N. Halsted St.

• Athlete Babe Didrikson, plaque at 3418 N. Halsted St.

• Historic tavern Stonewall, plaque at 3444 N. Halsted St.

• Father Mychal Judge, plaque at 3540 N. Halsted St.

• Astronaut Sally Ride, plaque at 3314 N. Halsted St.

• Ugandan teacher and activist David Kato, plaque at 3600 N. Halsted St.
