ROGERS PARK — Artist Gyan Samara aims to paint 60 street scenes throughout Chicago before showing his work in a gallery.

But passersby got a sneak peak at his work in Jarvis Square Wednesday as he used oil pastels to create a vibrant painting of the Greenview Avenue viaduct and fall leaves.

"I need something to do that's not work-related, and it gets me outside," said the 42-year-old who lives nearby.

So far, he's painted the neighborhood's beaches, the Near North Side and more.

Some of his other work is published on his website, but residents should be able to see him at the intersection of Jarvis and Greenview avenues this week while he finishes the Jarvis Square painting.

Just look for the easel covered with a black umbrella.

Can't miss him.
