LINCOLN PARK — Drivers and cyclists who frequent Lincoln Avenue rejoice: The end of potholes is near.

The road is set to be resurfaced between Wells Street and Diversey Avenue over the next few months.

Ald. Michele Smith (43rd) announced the resurfacing, saying she has been working closely with Gov. Pat Quinn, lobbying for funding because Lincoln Avenue is a state-controlled road.

"Many residents can attest to the poor conditions of Lincoln Avenue for drivers and cyclists alike," Smith said in an email.

The project will also include sidewalk improvements, curb and gutter removals and concrete bus pad construction, according to Smith.

The first phase of resurfacing is set to begin Oct. 6 on Lincoln between Wells and Webster streets.

The second phase will begin Oct. 9 between Fullerton Avenue and Diversey Parkway.

The work is expected to be completed by Dec. 5.
