GRAND CROSSING — The 44th season for the Eta Creative Arts Foundation Inc. has been moved temporarily to Kennedy-King College due to current renovations at the building.

"Renovations include a new roof, exterior work and cosmetic work to our classrooms," said Kemati Porter, interim executive director of the foundation. "I do not have a timetable on when construction will be completed, but we are hopeful all work will be done in time for our November production."

The foundation's opening play, '227,' which is based off a popular TV series, runs from Oct. 3-24. at Kennedy-King, 740 W. 63rd St., and showtime is 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays only. General tickets are $35 but $25 for seniors and $15 for high school and college students with a valid school ID.

Porter added that this is the first time it is hosting the two-hour play, which was written by Christine Houston while she was a student at Kennedy-King College. The NBC sitcom aired from 1985 to 1990.

Houston, an author and screenwriting lecturer at Chicago State University, wrote the play based off her childhood growing up at 227 E. 48th St. in Bronzeville.
