ENGLEWOOD — A weekend book signing will include a discussion about what was Englewood like during the 1950s by author Elaine Hegwood Bowen.
The free event, which will be moderated by Rashanah Baldwin, co-founder of the Resident Association of Greater Englewood, runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the US Bank Building, 815 W. 63rd St.
In her debut book, "Old School Adventures from Englewood — South Side of Chicago," Bowen discusses her childhood living on the western edge of Englewood and what the neighborhood and its residents were like back then. Even though the 57-year-old author moved to Bronzeville in 2004, she regularly visits family that still live in the neighborhood.
For those not able to attend the book signing Bowen said her self-published book by Lulu is available online for $17.99 and also is being sold at Women and Children First bookstore, 5233 N. Clark St.
