CHICAGO — A suburban woman who was hit by a taxicab in Old Town in August died of her injuries Friday, authorities said.

Emily Fredbloom, 26, of Lansing, was injured about 2 a.m. on Aug. 30 when she was hit by a northbound cab in the 1400 block of North La Salle Street, police said.

Witnesses said she "bolted out" into the street before being hit by the cab, police said.

Fredbloom was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced dead Friday at 4:29 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said. The cause of her death was complications of multiple injuries stemming from the cab hitting her, an autopsy determined.

The cab driver, a 51-year-old man, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and for not exercising due care with a pedestrian in the walkway.
