ENGLEWOOD — What should happen to the shuttered Elihu Yale Elementary School building?

That question will be discussed at a meeting of the Resident Association of Greater Englewood at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Greater Englewood United Methodist Church, 6401 S. Sangamon Ave.

Asiaha Butler, president of the group, said she joined other community members for a 90-minute walk-through at Yale, 7025 S. Princeton Ave., earlier this month.

Chicago Public Schools closed Yale in June 2013 along with dozens of other underutilized schools.

“Housing does not look like a feasible option,” Butler said. “A job training center is one possibility the school could be used for.”

She added that besides the school other topics to be discussed include an upcoming mural project in Englewood and the importance of voting in November election and the city’s February 2015 election.
