CHICAGO — A 37-year-old woman died after she was brutally beaten in East Garfield Park Sunday, authorities said.
Around 5 p.m., officers discovered the 37-year-old woman unresponsive in a first-floor hallway in the 800 block of South California Avenue in East Garfield Park after being beaten by another woman, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a person of interest is being questioned, Sedevic said.
The victim has not been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
