ENGLEWOOD — Before an ambulatory care center is built by St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center, the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board will hold a community meeting to hear from residents.

The public meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the Community Room at the Englewood Police District, 1438 W. 63rd St.

St. Bernard plans to build an ambulatory care center at the corner of 63rd Street and Stewart Avenue by April 2016 and will sit across the street from Johnson College Prep, Team Englewood and Urban Prep for Young Men high schools.

Construction on the three-story, 70,000-square-foot facility is expected to begin by Nov. 1, said Toni Graham, a spokeswoman for Berglund Construction, the general contractor for the project.

Hospital officials said they is currently working on a plan to ensure employment opportunities exist for Englewood residents during both construction and at the new center.
