UPTOWN — The Bar on Buena, one of Uptown's most popular bars, wants you to drink for a good cause Thursday night at a fundraiser to benefit Swedish Covenant Hospital's "Women's Health Initiative."
At the Beer and Spirit Tasting Fundraiser, scheduled from 7-9:30 p.m., the bar at 910 W. Buena plans to pour from 80 brands of craft and import beers and spirits, including Evanston's Temperance Beer Co., Ohio-based Great Lakes Brewing and Local Option, a Chicago brewery.
The event includes a raffle, and prizes include a neon Founders Brewing Co. sign, a snowboard and a "VIP package" trip for two to visit and tour Begyle Brewing Co. in Ravenswood.
Tickets, which include drinks and appetizers, cost $42.39 online, $45 at the door.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Women's Health Initiative, an effort to promote health literacy to women and their families and help women navigate the health care system.
Swedish Covenant's website says the cornerstone of the initiative is the Mayora Rosenberg Women's Health Center slated to open in fall 2014 at the Lincoln Square hospital.
