CHICAGO — Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man on the Southwest Side Friday evening.

The 24-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head about 5:10 p.m. in the 6200 block of South Kilpatrick Avenue, police said.

The victim was identified as Giovanni Galindo of Oak Lawn, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

He was declared dead on the scene at 5:18 p.m., authorities said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
