LOGAN SQUARE — A “multi-arts celebration” connecting people of all ages to artists, neighborhood organizations and businesses in Hermosa and Logan Square will kick off on Armitage Avenue Saturday.

The inaugural Armitage Arts Fest will include live music, literary performances and visual art along Armitage Avenue all day Saturday at Mozart Park, Rosa’s Lounge, Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center and Weegee’s Lounge.

Plans for the fest began earlier this year when a small group of business owners and community organizers got together to discuss a neighborhood project, according to organizers. It now includes a slew of other local establishments and community groups, including Bikes 4 Life, Borderbend Arts Collective, Build Chicago, the Chicago Park District and The Trust for Public Land.

Festival Schedule

1-3 p.m.
The program at the Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, 4046 W. Armitage Ave., includes:
• A Capoeira demonstration presented by the International Capoeira Angola Foundation
• A bike raffle from Bikes 4 People; performances by En Las Tablas Performing Arts, Elephant Rebellion, and Ascension Performing Arts
• Information tables with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association and the Dill Pickle Food Co-Op
• A parade from SRBCC to Mozart Park
$5 suggested donation, all ages

3-6 p.m.
The program at Mozart Park, 2036 N. Avers Ave., includes:
• A Taiko group performance
• A flag-making and parade-style movement workshop hosted by Opera-Matic
• A rhythm stick-making workshop presented by The 606
• A zine-making workshop and performances presented by The Borderbend Arts Collective
• An arts program presented by Voice of the City
• Voter registration with Logan Square Neighborhood Association
• A drum circle and parade from Mozart Park to Weegee’s Lounge
Free and open to the public, all ages

6-8 p.m.
The program at Weegee's Lounge, 3659 W. Armitage Ave., includes:
• An art exhibition and music provided by DJ Supreme Court
• Barbecue
• A parade from Weegee’s Lounge to Rosa’s Lounge
21 and older

8 to after midnight
The program at Rosa's Lounge, 3420 W. Armitage Ave., includes:
• Performances by The Next Objectivists and other groups
• Live painting by Ben Lasko
• The Toronzo Cannon concert
21 and over
