LAKEVIEW — Head's up, Lakeview: The Sunday Play Spot program kicks off this weekend.

Every Sunday in September, a stretch of Lincoln Avenue between School and Roscoe will be closed to cars from noon-4 p.m. Pedestrians can enjoy picnic areas, shopping, kids' activities, snacks and health screenings.

Regular activities will include:

Free Zumba Classes: The Lake View YMCA is hosting a free dance fitness class at noon each Sunday. The easy-to-follow session is for all ages.

Kids' Space: Pop-up play areas will include hula hoops, sidewalk chalk, playground sports, singing and dancing. Organizers include the Building Blocks Toy Store and The Little Gym.

Dog Spot: Teach your pooch basic commands with "Dog Twister" or create some colorful "Paint by Paw" artwork at a station hosted by Sam & Willy's.

Health Spot: Ballin Pharmacy is offering health screenings, free popcorn and free kids' vitamins.

Cornhole Tournament: Test your bean-bag-toss skills at The Green Lady, 3328 N. Lincoln Ave. Simply grab some friends and sign up by 12:30 p.m. each Sunday to compete. There are prizes for first-, second- and third-place teams. Email thegreenladychicago@gmail.com for more information.
