CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man died Thursday after he was shot while standing on a front porch in Chatham, police said.

The man was standing on a porch in the 8600 block of South Ingleside Avenue around 8:30 p.m. when two men approached him and opened fire. The 22-year-old was shot in his back and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman.

The victim was identified as Nigell D. Vazquez of the 1700 block of East 56th Street, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

No one is in custody for the shooting, which appears to be gang-related, Pacheco said.
