GOLD COAST — Evening on Astor, the Gold Coast Neighbors Association's annual fundraiser block party, returned to Astor Street for the 32nd year on Wednesday.

Admission to the block party was free, but the food vendors were not.

Fundraising focused on reserved tables propped up along Astor and Goethe streets seating either four or eight people.

With the table rental came entry to the street fest's annual table-design contest, which awards creative and extravagant displays designed by each table's occupants.

The table rentals sold out for Wednesday's event. Eight-seat table rentals went for $275 for Gold Coast Neighbors members and $300 for nonmembers, and four-seat tables cost $175 for members and $200 for nonmembers.

Tables were decorated with everything from life-sized Audrey Hepburn statues to miniature grand pianos and included mouth-watering spreads of food.

Festgoers also had the option of buying from food trucks, including Giordano's Pizza, Meat Loaf a Go-Go, Da Lobsta, Jack's Fork in the Road and Yogurtland.

The Gold Coast Neighbors Association founded Evening on Astor in 1982, and the event typically brings 800 people to the neighborhood each year.
