CHICAGO — A 24-year-old woman was charged with aggravated kidnapping and battery after trying to take a 2-year-old boy at O'Hare airport Tuesday, police said.

Around 4:45 p.m., the boy was standing a few feet away from his mom in the baggage claim area in lower Terminal 3 when Olachi Etoh, of the 3400 block of North Halsted Street in Lakeview, picked him up and tried to leave with him, authorities said.

The boy's mother ran after Etoh, catching her at the top of an escalator that leads to the "L," prosecutors said Wednesday. The two women struggled before the boy's mother was able to wrestle him away from Etoh, prosecutors said.

Etoh ran off, but later returned to the area, where she was identified by the boy's family and arrested.

Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. set Etoh's bail at $450,000.
