GOLD COAST — Evening on Astor, the Gold Coast Neighbors Association's annual fundraiser block party, returns to Astor Street for the 32nd year on Wednesday.

From 5:30-8:30 p.m., Gold Coast residents and visitors will dine, drink and shop from local vendors and restaurants in the Near North neighborhood.

Admission to the block party is free — aside from vendors — the real fundraising effort is focused on reserved tables, which are propped up along Astor and Goethe streets and seat either four or eight.

With the table rental comes a de facto entry to the street fest's annual table design contest, which awards creative and extravagant displays designed by each table's occupants.

Eight-seat table rentals cost $275 for Gold Coast Neighbors members and $300 for non-members, and four-seat tables cost $175 for members and $200 for non-members.

This year, attendees who splurge on a reserved table at the block party can pre-order food and desserts from vendors. The lineup includes Giordano's Pizza, Meat Loaf a Go-Go, Da Lobsta, Jack's Fork in the Road and Yogurtland.

Beer, wine and pop will also be sold

The Gold Coast Neighbors Association founded Evening on Astor in 1982, and the event typically brings 800 people to the neighborhood each year.
