
CHICAGO — A shooting in the Brainerd neighborhood set off a chain reaction that ended with a woman shot in the hand and crash involving a CTA bus.
The incident occurred in the 800 block of West 95th Street about 4:20 Sunday afternoon. A 20-year-old woman was riding in a vehicle when someone shot into the vehicle, strking her in the hand, said Sgt. Bob Kane, a police spokesman.
The driver of the vehicle exited, and the woman took the wheel. She drove away, attempting to flee the scene, and struck a CTA bus and another vehicle, Kane said.
The woman was eventually taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where her condition had stabilized. The CTA bus driver was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries, Kane said.
Area Central detectives are investigating the shooting.
