CHICAGO — A man was shot in the head in the Fernwood neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

Police said the man, 31, was sitting in a vehicle in the 10000 block of South Perry Avenue about 3:30 when someone walked up to him and fired several shots, striking him in the head.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in "stable" condition.

Police said the man is a documented gang member. No more information was available.
