LAKEVIEW — If you're looking to show off your patriotic side this Labor Day, you may want to head to Lakeview.

For more than 50 years, the Wellington-Oakdale Old Glory Marching Society (WOOGMS) has gathered Chicagoans for a do-it-yourself Labor Day parade through the 'hood. The group's motto is "Everybody Marches, Nobody Watches."

This year's parade kicks off at 11 a.m. Monday near the corner of Pine Grove and Wellington. Anyone who wants to join will walk seven blocks to the front lawn of Saint Joseph Hospital, 2900 N. Lake Shore Dr.

The group says it's "not political, just patriotic." All ages are welcome to join. There's also room for strollers, bikes, dogs and wheelchairs.
