SOUTH LOOP — The Bash on Wabash, the caboose of the summertime train of neighborhood street festivals, will hit the South Loop this weekend for its 11th annual fest.

South Loop restaurants, artists and businesses will man booths along Wabash Avenue between 13th and 14th place from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Live music will play all weekend and other activities include a Kids Bash area for little ones, a free 5K run on Saturday and a 10-mile bike ride Sunday organized by SnapFitness.

"What started out as a group of neighbors getting together in the early days of the South Loop’s development has become the neighborhood’s quintessential annual event," said Jeanette Johnson, President of The Greater South Loop Association, which will receive proceeds from the $5 suggested donation to fund neighborhood activities in the future.

"The Bash showcases the best of our community in a positive, entertaining atmosphere."

A welcomed returning guest this year is the bash's famous Sangria, a staple for the last five years concocted by M Lounge that was recently named the South Loop's Favorite Sangria in a contest that polled residents.
