CHICAGO — We had a cool, rainy and dreary start to the week, but today is expected to be sunny, 75 and fabulous.
Here are ways you can celebrate.
1. See a Movie: The 1974 film "Claudine," starring a young James Earl Jones, screens outside the South Shore Cultural Center tonight. The film follows a single mom working to support her six children on welfare. There's also a romantic twist. Free. Movie starts at 8 p.m. at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Drive.
2. Eat Crepes in the Park: Did you know that there's an outdoor crepe stand in Welles Park? Well, there is! Bring a book and eat a crepe in the grass. Or snag a book from the library across the street. Bonus: Now that Little League baseball season is over, the park is less crowded. Prices vary. Crepes served from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Welles Park, 2333 W Sunnyside Ave.
3. Celebrate Shark Week With a Margarita: Join other fair weather Discovery Channel fans at DS Tequila to watch some of their Shark Week shows. If you get bored with it, head to the patio and sip a 40-ounce shark bowl margarita for $15. Also, try the coffee-rubbed steak taco. Open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. at 3352 N. Halsted St.
4. Pick Up Some Woodworking Skills: The Devon Community Market is back with loads of food vendors, live music, face-painting for the kids and more. This week, there will be a free woodworking demonstration. Learn something! Free. From 4-8 p.m. in the Republic Bank parking lot, 2720 W. Devon Ave.
5. Eat Your Way Through Andersonville: The Taste of Andersonville Dinner Crawl returns tonight with offerings from some of the neighborhood's favorite dining destinations. Eat your way through the veggie-friendly "Salt Route" or meaty "Pepper Route," with offerings from Andersonville's top restaurants. Lots more details here. $25 in advance, $30 at the door.
