CHICAGO — Chicago baseball fans finally have a hometown team getting a World Series watch party: the Jackie Robinson West Little League squad.

The Jackie Robinson West team is Chicago's first to reach the Little League World Series tournament in 31 years.

The double-elimination tournament begins Thursday and will feature eight U.S. clubs and eight teams from around the world. Jackie Robinson West is facing Lynnwood, Washington, Thursday at 2 p.m. on ESPN from Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The watch party will start at 1:30 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Park, 10540 S. Morgan St.

Ballpark food, former White Sox players and Southpaw, the White Sox mascot, will be on hand for the event. The game starts at 2 p.m.

“The Jackie Robinson West All-Stars have excited an entire city with their dedication and athleticism, and everyone should have the chance to see a Chicago team play in the Little League World Series for the first time since 1983,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a news release. “Chicago could not be more proud to have these young men and their coaches represent our city, and as they take the field on Thursday, we want them to know an entire city will be behind them, cheering them on.”
