AVALON PARK — The Chicago Public Library's Avalon Branch will host a movie night followed by participants discussing the one-hour movie.

The free movie "The Dark City" starts at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 at the Avalon Branch, 8148 S. Stony Island Ave.

In the movie library officials said the movie's creator, Ian Cheney, moves from rural Maine to New York City and he embarks on a journey asking what is lost in the glare of city lights. Cheney provides a fascinating introduction to the science of the dark and an exploration of our relationship to the stars.
